Each State has "unique" landlord and tenant laws. Giving Tenants rights which they often dont know about. There are notices and specific dates to submit those notices in order to protect your tenant rights vs. going off a simple narrative without following the guidelines.

Be sure to respond to the complaint which was issued to you in the summons. Be sure to make your plea and letter "Directed to the Judge and the Circuit". You'll need to file a Motion to determine rent which will place a Hearing date on the calendar. In some cases you may want to file a Counter Claim (See your clerk of court for filing fee's).
